Hey! I’m Coach Alex.

I’ve been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for a little over two years and I’m proud to be one of the first IJEF-sponsored coaches teaching children in the United States. I was certified by Professor Erik Klinger as a Level 1 Kids Instructor under the Level Up Brazilian Jiu Jitsu system. I love teaching kids of all ages, but it has been a true joy to share my passion for jiu-jitsu with children of women escaping domestic violence right here in Los Angeles. Though I’m mainly based in West Los Angeles at the Level Up Brazilian Jiu Jitsu headquarters, IJEF is also supporting me to establish onsite training through outreach programs in Inglewood and Central LA.

Teaching jiu-jitsu to kids who face poverty, domestic violence, or any number of difficult life challenges has become a way of life for me — 6 or 7 days a week I’m on the mat working to instill the skills and structure jiu-jitsu has to offer. But I believe so strongly in the power of jiu-jitsu to promote change, I look forward to continuing to tackle this opportunity to produce tangible benefits to my community. I am so grateful to IJEF for affording me this chance to be a Roll Model in so many young kids’ lives!
