Olá, I’m Felipe Makoto Ono.
I was born in São Paulo in 1998, and started training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu after a friend of mine in Japan convinced me to check out the sport. I’m 18 years old, but I’ve been training jiu-jitsu since I was only 10. I have been lucky enough to accomplish much in my jiu-jitsu career. I am both a World Champion and a Pan-American Champion, but I believe my biggest accomplishment is helping children by teaching them in the ways of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
IJEF has helped many children in the slums of São Paulo and around the world, giving them the opportunity to train and learn what BJJ can offer them. All the work we do here nowadays is due to IJEF’s support, as most of the children are too poor to affording gis or gym memberships. Because of IJEF, I have the opportunity to live what I love: bettering the lives of these children through jiu-jitsu.
